【摘要】:Thistestmethodisintendedforusewhenmeasuringsurfaceflammabilityofflexiblecellularmaterialsexposedtofire.Thetestmethodprovidesalaboratorytestprocedureformeasuringandcomparingthesurfaceflammabilityofmaterialswhenexposedtoaprescribedlevelofradiantheatenergy.Thetestisconductedusingspecimensthatarerepresentative,totheextentpossible,ofthematerialorassemblybeingevaluated.Forexample,ifanassemblyisrequiredtobetested,suchspecimensshallreplicatethetypeandthicknessofallthelayerspresentintheassemblybeingevaluated.Therateatwhichflameswilltravelalongsurfacesdependsuponthephysicalandthermalpropertiesofthematerial,product,orassemblyundertest,thespecimenmountingmethodandorientation,thetypeandleveloffireorheatexposure,theavailabilityofair,andpropertiesofthesurroundingenclosure.(1-6),5.3TestMethodE162isagenericversionofthistestmethod,usinganapparatusthatissubstantiallythesameastheoneusedinthistestmethod.However,TestMethodE162isnormallyintendedforapplicationtospecimensotherthanflexiblecellularmaterials.5.3.1ThepilotburnerinthistestmethodisdifferentfromthepilotburnerinTestMethodE162.Inthisprocedure,thespecimensaresubjectedtooneormorespecificsetsoflaboratoryfiretestconditions.Ifdifferenttestconditionsaresubstitutedortheend-useconditionsarechanged,itisnotalwayspossiblebyorfromthistesttopredictchangesinthefire-test-responsecharacteristicsmeasured.Therefore,theresultsarevalidonlyforthefiretestexposureconditionsdescribedinthisprocedure.Ifthetestresultsobtainedbythistestmethodaretobeconsideredaspartofanoverallassessmentoffirehazardinabuildingorstructure,thenthecriteria,conceptsandproceduresincorporatedintoGuideE1546shallbetakenintoconsideration.1.1Thisisafiretestresponsestandard.1.2Thistestmethoddescribesthemeasurementofsurfaceflammabilityofflexiblecellularmaterials.1.3Thisstandardmeasuresanddescribestheresponseofmaterials,products,orassembliestoheatandflameundercontrolledconditions,butdoesnot,byitself,incorporateallfactorsrequiredforfirehazardorfireriskassessmentofthematerials,products,orassembliesunderactualfireconditions.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.1.5Firetestingisinherentlyhazardous.Adequatesafeguardsforpersonnelandpropertyshallbeemployedinconductingthesetests.1.6SpecificinformationabouthazardsisgiveninSection7.Note18212;ThereisnosimilarorequivalentISOstandard.1.7ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunits,inparentheses,areforinformationonlyandareapproximations(seealsoIEEE/ASTMSI-10).
